Jim Jacobi is a Managing Principal and Chief Information Officer for Houston-based Walter P Moore, one of the leading engineering consulting firms in the nation with offices nationwide. In this position, he is responsible for the firm's overall information technology strategy and programs. He also leads the firm’s Technology Consulting Business Group, Walter P. Moore Technology LLC which offers Managed IT Services, IT Consulting, Cyber Security Assessments, Virtual Reality Services and Systems Integration and Custom Software Development. He has presented nationally on a variety of subjects pertaining to technology in the AEC industry, holds a patent for improved facilities management systems and currently serves as a member of the ACEC national CIO Roundtable. He has over 40 years of experience in engineering design, project management and construction with a special expertise in application of information technology to this field. Mr. Jacobi is a registered professional engineer in four states.
Jim earned both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi and Chi Epsilon engineering honor societies, and has served on a number of committees including chair of University of Houston's Industry Advisory Board on Training in Advanced Plant Design Systems, the Electronic Data Management Task Force for the Construction Industry Institute, and the A/E Productivity Committee of the Construction Users Roundtable. He is an Emeritus Member of the Advisory Board for the College Of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University and the Advisory Board for the College of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The University of Michigan.
